about

In the Silmarillion, the Valar (Tolkien's version of Angels) enter the Earth and shape the mountains rivers and oceans. An evil spirit called Morgoth tries to corrupt all the good things and wages war on all the good things created.

Compositional notes: this song makes a lot of use of a technique called chromatic mediant modulation. Often used by Holst and film composers like John Williams. Basically this is a way to change key in a surprising way, often with every chord. This gives this composition a floating and restless quality.

lyrics

Enter the cathedral of earth sea and sky. Breath in and wonder at this precious life and the miracles all around. Living Cathedral of Earth Sea and Sky, enter in let its music fill your eyes.
