about

I love this line spoken by Frodo to his faithful friend Sam just at the moment they think all is lost and they have failed everybody. Because when all is said and done, all that remains of value is the love we have shared.

Compositional notes
This is my humble attempt to do a cross between Jeff Beck and a Yorkshire colliery brass band. A sort of electric guitar hymn, if you will.
I was fortunate to be able to record in the rehearsal hall using instruments that the Clifton and Lightcliffe brass band have used since 1838. My good friend Stephen Bradnum took the brass parts I'd written and turned it into an epic tune.
A lot of the solos on this album were composed, however, I set myself a goal of fully improvising the solo on this song so that I could react to the power of epic orchestration. I limited myself to 10 takes and chose my favourite one.
